	HISTORY Holiday Bible Week (HBW) started in 1987. The initial vision for the project was brought by Sheila Hannington from the Baptist Church who, having witnessed the work of a Vacation Bible School in Saffron Walden, brought the idea back to Bishop's Stortford. Sheila developed the idea, and having gained the support of her Church pastor presented it to Churches Together in Bishop's Stortford. Her proposal was accepted and support from the local churches has continued to enable HBW to run year after year. The numbers of children attending have remained at around 500 annually over the years, with a slight drop off in recent years, as in all youth work. Helpers involved from the local churches amount to around 150 people in any one year.
